Ajax datacentre adds more power to company’s portfolio

Datacentre operator Gyron has announced that it will be opening a new datacentre in Slough.

The new Ajax facility, which aims to be up and running in the first quarter of next year, is said to complement  the existing Gyron owned and operated Maylands and Centro facilities located in Hemel Hempstead. It will also bring Gyron’s total announced power capacity to 19MW.

The facility is said to offer up to 56,700 sq ft of datacentre space and 6,900 sq ft of associated offices and disaster recovery areas.

The site will feature dual redundant 8MW power supplies from two dedicated on-site HV substations, as well as diverse connections to multiple fibre optic connectivity providers.

Gyron has said that it also plans to link the new Ajax facility to its existing data centres in Hemel Hempstead via a new dedicated high-speed fibre optic network ring.

Gyron’s Managing Director, Robin Balen, said “The Ajax facility is a fantastic opportunity to offer new and existing customers access to our environmentally friendly Tier IV aligned facilities in geographically diverse locations for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions.”

“We plan on providing our co-location services at a class-leading PUE of between 1.2 and 1.3, with all power supplied from 100 percent green renewable sources, and we will be extending our ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 27001 (Information Security) external certifications to cover this facility.”

The company has also said that it will be deploying a range of top-notch security features to ensure data is kept safe.

This includes round the clock on-site security and engineering staff, full digital CCTV coverage, government certified vehicular impact protection, blast proof windows, and prison specification electrified perimeter fencing.
