Christian Magirus gets VP role as emphasis on services sales increases

Avnet Technology Soultion has announced changes to its EMEA management structure, with staff from recent acquisition Magirus integrated into senior positions with the company.

Following its acquisition of the German distributor, Avnet TS has shaken up its EMEA team with vice president and chief operations officer Christian Magirus appointed vice president of services for Avnet TS EMEA operations. According to Avnet, Magirus’ new position is a symbol of the growing importance of delivering service offerings for its resellers.

According to Avnet, Christian Magirus will also have responsibility for Avnet services businesses WBT, Client Solutions, Ascendant, Canvas, Colt cloud services and Mattelli, as well as ‘dotted line’ responsibility for all in-country services, aside from  vendor resold services.

Other moves as Magirus staff move across include Fabian von Kuenheim taking an advisory role at Avnet TS, and stepping down from day to day duties as Magirus chief exec.

Gert Weber, vice president for operations and IT, Martin Lauer, vice president for credit, collection and finance, Petra Speidel, vice president for finance and accounting, and Andreas Bockwinkel, director of controlling, will all be handed key executive roles with Avnet as part of the transition.

EMEA operations for Avnet TS will be divided into a four region structure, with Sukh Rayat, senior vice president for the UK and Ireland, leading the northern region.

Vice presidents Roman Rudolf and Judith Ecker will look after central and eastern EMEA regions respectively.

Senior vice president for enterprise sales and marketing, Miriam Murphy, who recently updated ChannelBiz on the Magirus integration, will lead the west region, alongside her other duties.

Murphy told ChannelBiz UK that the new structure will benefit partners with greater cohesion between EMEA-wide and regional operations.

“The new structure supports an increased customer focus by driving further alignment and collaboration between the regional and EMEA organisation,” Murphy said. “In particular, this will speed up time to market of EMEA-led and regional-led initiatives to the benefit of our partners and suppliers.”

“Our commitment to expanding our services offerings will also positively impact our partners as we work more closely with them to develop and deliver services that will accelerate their success,” she said.

She added that as part of the new structure, Dieter Lott will become vice president customer focus, business and strategic development, and his priority will be to drive customer engagement across EMEA.

Murphy mentioned that the acquisition will boost the services offerings available to its partners.

“We are focused on increased growth in services across Avnet Technology Solutions EMEA,” she said. “We’ve already made some sizeable investments to grow the services business both organically and through acquisition – Canvas, Ascendant and Mattelli being recent examples”.

“We want to accelerate the success of our partners and suppliers and we believe that services is key to driving increased profitable growth for our partners and driving product demand for our suppliers,” she said.
