No longer such a pain to design your models says Taiwanese firm

The widening popularity of 3D printers is unquestionable, but for many their use isn’t exactly easy. Once you take a 3D printer out of the box you realise some design experience and a way with creation software is almost a must.

3D printer manufacturer XYZprinting is therefore trying to make it easier for the digital artistic laggards out there. It has announced the launch of XYZmaker, its new software solution for 3D modelling.

XYZPrinting 3D Printer 2Designed with the complete beginner in mind, the software provides users with a warehouse of existing models and several simple tools to generate different shapes “with ease”, it said. These can then be rotated, adjusted, grouped and personalised to create printable 3D designs in as much detail as desired.

XYZmaker is fully compatible with all of XYZprinting’s printer ranges, and allows files to be exported in .stl, .obj, .amf or .ply format for external use.

Simon Shen, CEO at XYZprinting, said: “3D printers themselves have come a long way in terms of user-friendliness and accessibility, but 3D modelling has remained fairly restrictive and difficult to grasp when you don’t come from a design background.

We hope that the launch of XYZmaker will bridge that gap, and bring us one step closer to breaking down the barriers to 3D printer ownership so that everyone can become the maker.”

XYZmaker is free for all XYZprinting users to download.
