Not the last match at the Boleyn after all as channel raises charity cash

Thought the last match had been played at West Ham United’s famous Boleyn Ground? – think again.

While the Hammers may well have played their last game at the Boleyn before moving to the Olympic stadium in Stratford, another East London-based team moved in temporarily this week.

London Underground Tube TfLAs part of its fundraising efforts, cloud and networking provider Exponential-e launched a five-a-side tournament at the ground for channel partners, with participating teams making a donation to Exponential-e’s chosen charity, the Macmillan Cancer Trust.

Participating channel partners, including Opus and Alternative Networks, had the opportunity to use the players’ changing rooms and play on the hallowed pitch – scene of a famous 3-2 win against Man Utd in West Ham’s last league match at the ground.

A cross bar challenge ended the tournament and trophies were awarded to the winners.

The launch of the Channel Charity Cup reflects our commitment to raising awareness and support for causes that hold an affinity with our customers and staff,” said Michala Hart, head of channel strategy at Exponential-e.

We also wanted to organise something that would enable us to get more involved with our channel partners by enjoying a fun and challenging competition with them, as well as making a positive impact by sharing our resources and expertise for charities that are important to us as a business.”
