Reinforces Virtualization credentials

Avnet has signed up as a Microsoft System Center services provider and launched the service for the UK market. The company is the first of many to come Value Added Distributors in the UK to include Microsoft System Center services in its services provided roster.

Avnet partners, ie: resellers, will tap the provider for server management best practices and custom licensing models, said the company. The offer is targeting small to medium sized organisations providing partners with expertise in pre-sales, design, customisation, integration and support services that will enable companies to best market their services.

This, Avnet hopes, will happen without them overextending their budgets on catching up with the latest Microsoft Services. Stephen Ennis, services business development director, Avnet Technology Solutions, EMEA, added: “Being the first IT  distribution company in the UK to gain the Microsoft Gold Competency in virtualisation and management is a truly remarkable achievement.”

Microsoft System Center is a management service for cloud and datacentre management, from the highest capacity server on your IT asset list to the lowliest device that needs to securely connect and communicate with your networked environment. It is the IT professional’s equivalent of a very friendly Technet, only directed at best practices, policies and processes.

Analysts believe cloud and datacentre management are to be one of the highest-growth computing environments of the season, and an opportunity for Service providers to deliver value-added services while reducing partners’ overall expenditure on IT management and training.

Taisha Betz, Microsoft business unit manager, Avnet Technology Solutions, UK, said, “Today’s announcement rewards our investment in high quality training and reflects our commitment to adding real value to our business partners.”
