VMware eyes UK growth as revenues rocket

VMware is targeting further growth in the UK following impressive results, as the firm rides a wave of popularity in virtualisation.

Last week the firm released its global financial results showing a revenue increase of 25.1 percent, up to $1.06 billion.  This saw its operating income up 41 percent in the first quarter, reaching $217 million.

With a battle heating up between the proprietary services of its rivals and the open source offerings of its rivals, VMware is clearly faring rather well at the moment.   A senior exec took time out to label its rivals, such as Citrix, “ugly sisters”.

The firm is pushing its vCloud services to businesses in the UK via the channel, accelerating migration to cloud services.

While it is not able to reveal specific details of its UK financials, Ed Dolman, Head of Channel, UK & Ireland,  told ChannelBiz UK that the company is expecting to further improve its position in the UK, helping more customers move towards cloud services.

“Our UK channel has performed impressively for a long period of time and we believe this year we will continue to see lots of growth,”  Dolman said.

VMware expects that its partners  will “continue to capitalise on the recognised benefits of virtualisation, push into the cloud, and take advantage of advancements in our end user computing portfolio.”

“We appreciate all the efforts of our partners and have a fantastic offering to help them achieve growth, so we’re looking forward to the year ahead,” Dolman said.
