AMD is said to be ready to launch its latest A series APUs.
The APUs, known in the industry as “Trinity” are, according to the DigiTimes, to be launched this month. However it is claimed that the company will only initially release models for notebooks.
Models for desktops will be launched in August, while sources have said that the company’s 40nm tablet PC processors – known as “Hondo” will be released later in the fourth quarter, to coincide with the release of Windows 8.
The Trinity processors have a Piledriver structure. They are also claimed to have a 25 percent improvement in overall performance and an improved 50 percent in graphics performance compared to the existing Llano processor family.
The processors will also rival the same entry level Ivy Bridge processors from Intel, coming in with a lower price point.
The desktop Trinity processors including A10-5800K, A10-5700, A8-5600K, A8-5500 are manufactured by Globalfoundries, using a 32nm process.
