Avnet targets NHS with HealthPath partner programme

Helping businesses get in on the health market

Enormous distributor Avnet is introducing what it claims is the first industry specialisation practice for the UK, HealthPath, which will aim to give Avnet UK partners ways to differentiate and sell themselves in the UK health market.

HealthPath will give Avnet partners the technology to sell on to the health sector, including the NHS. Partners will also get help and advice from Avnet on how to crack the sector and drive up profits, including training and insights from former and current healthcare executives and consultants.

The company claims that it is working with a “number of suppliers” to build up a portfolio that it can pitch directly towards the healthcare sector. Perhaps tellingly, Avnet believes its first priority is in targeting data archiving, media, back-up, and recovery.

Peter Blythe, of Avnet UK, said that the IT channel is an important route for the NHS to make the tough target of four percent in savings year on year.

“Healthcare and clinicians already know the value of technology when dealing with patients,” Blythe said in a statement. “Avnet’s HealthPath includes a series of initiatives to provide additional revenue opportunities for partners already operating in this sector and advises others on how to enter the healthcare market quickly”.
