Skyscape brings EMC Atmos to UK’s public sector

London-based Skyscape Cloud Services has entered an agreement with EMC that will see it deliver managed services and its own cloud storage service with EMC Atmos.

Skyscape delivers cloud storage services specifically to the UK’s public sector. The company says its storage as a service offerings give the public sector a way to store and protect distributed unstructured content, on the cheap, on scale, and on a consumption based model, meaning organisations don’t have to overspend on their budgets managing underlying infrastructure.

Skyscape will offer the UK public sector a total of 17 compute-as-a-service, storage-as-a-service and software-as-a-service products at a range of differing levels. The company, it says, prides itself on providing easy to adopt, easy to use, and easy to leave services.

Skyscape’s CEO, Phil Dawson, said in a statement that the “true partnership” will see EMC providing the hardware as well as full implementation services and ongoing support to defined service levels, which also supports Skyscrape’s delivery model.

Now that Skyscrape has integrated Atmos into its portal, Dawson said the partnership will give customers a secure and scalable environment, enabling the public sector to move to the cloud.

Global veep of EMC managed services, Peter Lacoste, boasted in a statement that customers using EMC global services will “have an unparalleled ability to keep pace and take advantage of rapid storage and backup technology changes”.
