Canon aims for the cloud with imageRunner Advance release

Canon has released its second generation imageRunner Advance platform, aimed at improving support for mobile devices and cloud connectivity.

Six new A3 multifunctional devices (MFDs) are being released as a follow up to the first imageRunner Advance platform, with a new range of software to enable features such as greater security. Data Loss Prevention services through Canon’s uniFlowplatform service, as well as a new Universal Login Management system.

There is increased emphasis on cloud usage, with new software for imageRunner Advance, which allows printing via Google cloud services.  eCopy Scan allows customers to scan and send images to cloud services available through the likes of Salesforce.

The new imageRunner Advance C5200, 6200 and 8200 series will be released in the UK & Ireland next month, with the C2200, C7200 andC9200 series available from November.  The release should help Canon expand its services-led approach being targeted to boost channel business.

“The new generation of imageRunner Advance directly addresses these challenges by enabling smarter ways of working through increased personalisation, usage control as well as cloud connectivity and mobile working.”

He says that the new platform will boost services to SMBs. “Small businesses will benefit from enterprise level capabilities such as heightened security, effective control of print costs and powerful document publishing tools, while enterprise customers and large organisations can utilise a scalable imaging solution with advanced security, integration and fleet management at its heart.”
