Gordano gets G Cloud accreditation

Email provider Gordano has become a partner for the British government’s G-CloudII, part of a movement that is supposed to democratise public sector procurement and take it away from just cartel contract spending.

G-Cloud is supposed to simplify the buying process for IT in the public sector, through CloudStore, which lists 1,700 acredited companies.

Gordano, the company boasted, was invited to the cabinet office to show off its Gordano Messaging Services. The requirement was for a web based email and document platform to make it easier for public sector organisations to collaborate.

Although the company says its reputation is for on-premises, non-cloud email, it is developing with cloud, and keeping an eye on the cloud and the ongoing trends in that sector.

Gordano plans to focus on cloud ICT services for government departments, local authorities, and the wider public sector. As well as focusing on cloud, the company warns that for business critical applications like email, the leap to the cloud can bring challenges with it.

Business development manager at the company, Jonathan Joseph, said that Gordano is refining an integrated product portfolio, and that the cloud project is growing rapidly. However, internally hosted email will still be required by much of the market, though cloud deployments will continue to increase over the decade.
