Managed security service provider market to grow 17.7 percent as SMBs cut IT costs

The UK managed security service provider market is set for substantial growth, according to an analyst report.

Analysts at TechNavio predicted that the UK MSSP market will grow by a compound annual growth rate of 17.7 percent from 2011 to 2015, as SMEs look to cut spending on IT security.

Like many other markets, cloud is impacting on security providers, leading to growth in managed service offerings.   This is set to benefit some of the larger ISPs and service provider vendors including Symantec, Hewlett Packard, Orange Business Services, Integralis and Computacenter, the report claims.

According to the report, many of the large MSSP companies are now offering cloud services due to demand from customers for low cost security with easy installation and less maintenance requirements.

This is helping customers lower IT investments, while providing security against increasing threats, with outsourcing becoming more popular.  In addition MSSPs often provide security experts for advice on securing against complex threats, allowing customers to focus on their core business
