GFI Adds Web Protection To Its Cloud Security Services

IT security firm GFI has added a web protection service to its GFI Cloud offering that it said would help IT managers in small companies cut down the risk from web-based threats to devices.

The service will work both for in-house devices or machines in located remotely. The service requires the installation of agent software on the end-user machine connecting the system to the management console via the cloud.

URL filters

The Web Protection service offers URL filtering capabilities where administrators can apply web content filtering policies, such as time-based browsing rules, across more than 80 different categories of websites, keeping users productive and protecting businesses from security risks and legal liabilities, it claimed.

There is also a web monitoring facility to help administrators keep a check on bandwidth usage through graphical reports and automated alerts when defined bandwidth thresholds are reached. GFI Cloud also integrates with TeamViewer to allow IT administrators or support service providers to access devices to resolve problems on them.

Once connected, IT administrators log into the GFI Cloud console to manage GFI software services on all workstations and servers from a single interface. The company said that don’t often have the time or budget to manage a web monitoring service, it added that the new service could be up and running in minutes.

Sergio Galindo, head of Global Product Management at GFI Software said that security risks are increasing by the minute, yet SMB IT administrators are faced with the same tight budgets and thin resources.

“GFI Cloud helps administrators overcome these challenges by providing an affordable, easy-to-use, multi-layered approach to security that can be managed through a single, cloud-based console,” he said. “The result is comprehensive threat protection at a price point and level of simplicity that resource-strapped administrators demand. Our solution gives SMB IT admins more confidence in their IT security and business strategies.”

GFI said that Web Protection for GFI Cloud is available now and GFI Cloud services, such as Web Protection, Antivirus and Patch Management, are each priced at £12 per computer, per year. There are also multi-year and service bundle discounts available. All services come with support from GFI.

Earlier this year, ChannelBiz reported that GFI Software has launched a new channel expansion programme to create a “three figure increase” in the number of its reseller partners between now and November.
