Hospitality industry Wi-Fi provider consolidates business with Park Wi-Fi acquisition
Airangel has bought Park Wi-Fi in a bid to boost its core offerings in the hospitality internet business. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Park Wi-Fi provides wireless internet access services to holiday parks and homes across the UK. The deal will see Park Wi-Fi co-founders, Jonathan Oakden and Chris Pressley joining Airangel to provide specialist expertise and local customer understanding.
The acquisition of Park Wi-Fi, which was completed at the beginning of the month, adds 140 sites to the 1,500 wireless networks already provided by Airangel across the hospitality and leisure industry. Airangel will take over Park Wi-Fi’s customer support with immediate effect, while the full transfer and upgrade of Park Wi-Fi’s existing estate is due to be completed by the end of this year.
Both companies said that they are committed to delivering a “smooth transition” for customers, who will largely be unaware of the change.
The addition of Park WiFi to Airangel’s portfolio of wireless internet services follows the company’s acquisition in 2011 of Candengo, the wireless internet services company that specialised in providing internet connectivity to marinas and caravan parks.
Airangel said the deal would further strengthen its presence in the hospitality and leisure sector, which includes hotels, international chains, next generation hostels, apartments, self-catering holiday parks and marinas.
“Park Wi-Fi has been one of the industry’s innovators when it comes to providing content, services and personalised offers to its customers through its web portal,” said Dean Wilkinson, chief executive of Airangel, “Its focus on delivering a great user experience and customer insight is right at the heart of Airangel’s Wi-Fi CRM proposition and therefore a natural fit for the business.”
Jonathan Oakden, co-founder of Park Wi-Fi said, “We’re delighted with the enhanced support and additional services our customers will now have access to and are looking forward to working with Airangel as the network of holiday park sites continues to grow.”
