Silverstring Disrupts Disaster Recovery With Pay As You Go Cloud

Silverstring has opened a “pay-as-you-go” disaster recovery service as part of its TSM in the Cloud platform.

Hailing Predatar as a disruptive application similar to the kind of usage scheme sold by pay-as-you-go mobile phone service providers, Silverstring said it will give its customers instant access to a fully automated disaster recovery application on a pay-by-the-hour basis.

Cost savings

Customers of TSM in the Cloud will be able to automate their disaster recovery orchestration and testing while exercising control through the reporting interface provided, with total transparency in the billing process. The TSM service is based on a cloud implementation of IBM’s Tivoli Services Management framework.

Alistair Mackenzie, CEO of Silverstring, said, “Silverstring is ripping up the rulebook about disaster recovery and data protection, making it easier than ever for an enterprise organisation using TSM to enter the cloud.”

He estimated that payment-on-use could reduce costs for businesses by up to 50 percent from the six figure sums they perhaps pay today for storage and backup that offer no real benefits and produce little more than a tick-box insurance policy.

“On top of that, TSM in the Cloud’s push-button automation and easily understood interface provide an instantly accurate picture of whether an organisation’s disaster recovery will work. Traditional disaster recovery testing by contrast, takes days and causes major disruption to everyday business operations,” he added.

TSM in the Cloud’s disaster recovery service will be rolled out around the world through Silverstring and its network of global partners, including CSI in the UK.
