BigTec promises improved backups and speedier app roll-outs through new vendors

Datacentre VAD BigTec UK has added two new suppliers to its roster. This includes a distribution agreement with Rubrik, a developer of a converged backup solution.

Rubrik says it converges complex infrastructure, provides consistent performance and simplifies management of backup and recovery. BigTec has also added Avi Networks, a specialist in next-generation application delivery and services, to its portfolio of vendor technologies.

Silicon Valley-based Avi uses software defined principles in its Avi Vantage Platform – an application delivery controller (ADC) that goes beyond load balancing to “dramatically improve” the speed of application rollouts, resource efficiency and visibility.

EMEA outsourcing distributionThis chimes with the BigTec vision of hybrid cloud data centres, where network functions can be orchestrated and virtualised as easily as memory, CPU and storage. BigTec is targeting an initial group of “focused partners” to be provided technical and marketing support to pursue “high margin enterprise opportunities” that displace legacy infrastructure and “steal a march” on ADC competitors.

Avi is an exciting player in the ADC space and the only innovator with a pure SDN-like vision that isn’t constrained by the legacy of hardware,” said Jason Dance, managing director at BigTec UK. “Sealing our agreement on an exclusive basis means we can really focus and invest in what we believe is a very significant market opportunity.”

Avi Networks provides a subscription based licensing model that eliminates capital expenses and over-provisioning, and enables a pay-as-you-grow approach.

BigTec UK shares our vision of the data centre and we believe it has the local relationships, skills and proven track record to fulfil our potential,” said Dirk Marichal, VP EMEA & India at Avi Networks.

As for the other new vendor, Rubrik’s founding team has developed a converged data management platform to deliver webscale backup for virtual environments.

Rubrik has attracted over $50 million in equity financing from leading tech VCs Greylock and Lightspeed Ventures, and is experiencing “rapid growth worldwide”, it said.

The partnership between BigTec [which is part of the Exclusive Group] and Rubrik provides our partners in Europe with significant and immediate value,“ said Bill Cordero, head of worldwide channel at Rubrik. “We chose BigTec as an early partner because of their track record of success in next generation infrastructure and strong investment in go-to-market support for their partners.”
