‘Digital or die’ says OpenText as firms face data hurdles

OpenText is continuing to display its applications on demand and cloud credentials, as it hosts hundreds of enterprise information management (EIM) customers and partners here in Nashville, Tennessee.

At its Enterprise World 2016 event, the company says it is expanding its partner ecosystem and tackling the way users now want to access its information management solutions.

In the week that consulting firm Deloitte says the majority of European firms are struggling to marry their clouds to digital transformation needs to better serve customers [see separate ChannelBiz story], OpenText promises it will help them.

OpenText CEO Mark Barrenechea told delegates: “Companies need cognitive solutions [a need both IBM and Microsoft are also tub thumping about] and embedded predictive analytics across a business network with more of their partners on that network.”

He said: “It’s ‘digital or die’ for firms as they are facing a changing workforce, a race to zero infrastructure, a landscape of shrinking trusted partners and next generation globalisation.”

OpenText has added various enhancements to Release 16 of its various product suites, including embedded analytics, more Microsoft SharePoint services, EMEA data sovereignty to address privacy and data storage protection issues, better support for data on mobiles, and integration with Hadoop data processing.

On the data processing side, Barrenechea emphasised the need for cognitive and machine learning solutions to deliver enhanced and adaptive data extraction.

“It’s all about engagement, capture and content, and we have extended our ecosystem in the enterprise content management (ECM) space, integrating closely with SAP, Oracle and Microsoft, and now also closely supporting both Salesforce and SuccessFactors.”

The conference, which goes on until this Thursday, will show how OpenText intends to deliver its solutions through more partners, as the cloud and the on-demand economy demands more open systems and supply chains to give customers what they want.

ChannelBiz will be providing more coverage as the event unfolds.
