The award is a five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract valued at more than $79 million. Under the terms of the contract, which began on July 3, AFS will provide support to BUMED, also known as Navy Medicine, as it advances health informatics, virtual health and artificial intelligence initiatives that empower data-driven decisions at the intersections of health information technology, patient care, healthcare operations and readiness.

AFS has already received five task orders supporting BUMED with human-centered design, project management, and functional support to the Fleet, Fleet Marine Force, and Reserve Components for activities involving electronic health record modernization and virtual health. This will improve health outcomes and extend enhanced healthcare capabilities to the sea, battlefield and to hospitals worldwide.

“We are proud to help BUMED not only reshape and optimize but also to embrace modern technologies that transform wellness, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and clinical decision support to improve health and readiness,” said Jeff Plummer, Accenture Federal Services’ (AFS) Navy Medicine lead.

AFS will use its deep industry experience in private-sector healthcare to help BUMED navigate the shift to care models that are more data-driven, patient-centric, cost-efficient and driven by technology. According to Plummer, these innovations will enhance the Navy’s capabilities as it prepares for future conflicts. The advances and renewed emphasis on readiness will promote patient safety, value, equity, efficiency, functionality and the end-user-focused design of systems.

This contract is the third award AFS has received from Navy Medicine in the past year. It was also awarded separate prime contracts on the BUMED Readiness and Health Support Services IDIQ and BUMED Financial and Business Operations Management Support IDIQ.
