The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s official website, ALEA.gov, has received a Standard of Excellence award from the WebAward competition, marking the fifth award for the website in 2019.
The website was redesigned by Alabama Interactive in early 2019 and has since been recognized for multiple innovative solutions incorporated into the platform. The WebAward competition recognized the site for technology, interactivity and ease of use.
Over 1.15 million people visit the ALEA’s website annually, making it critical to deliver key information quickly and effectively. Two main aspects of the website that help accomplish this goal are the live filter search feature and the interactive homepage banner that provides real estate for the agency to highlight prominent services and information critical to the public. Highlighted services include driver’s license online services, a missing persons feed and employment opportunities at the agency. Driver’s license services are the most sought-after information on the website and make the agency’s utilization of high traffic avenues imperative to drive traffic to this material.
In addition, the mega main menu, consistent on all pages, is an additional feature that highlights the website’s prominence in the ease of use category. Users, even if they bypass the homepage to visit the website, can utilize the site search and mega menus to quickly access agency information.
The website has also received awards from the Communicator, Hermes, dotCOMM and Marcom awards this year.
