Students at Alabama Virtual Academy at Eufaula City Schools (ALVA) are gearing up for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year, which begins on August 8th. An online public school of the Eufaula City Board of Education, ALVA is available tuition-free to students in grades K-12 who reside anywhere in the state.

ALVA students have access to a robust set of online resources and attend live virtual classes. With personalized learning tools available for every student, ALVA combines a rigorous curriculum, online instruction, and the support of state-licensed teachers. The school is committed to ensuring that students are excited about learning and have the skills they need for post-graduation success.

“Our number one goal is to ensure that every student has access to an abundance of opportunities,” said ALVA Head of School Kayleen Marble. “And at ALVA, we dedicate every day to helping students and their families find the academic path that works best for them.”

ALVA’s dedicated teachers and staff facilitate lessons during live, interactive online classes. In addition, teachers offer one-on-one instruction, online chat sessions and family phone calls to build closer partnerships with parents, learning coaches, and students. The online platform enables students to enjoy a safe learning environment and connect with classmates and teachers from across the state.

“So many of my students have come from environments where they were bullied or where their families were concerned about their safety or about their ability to succeed academically,” said ALVA high school science teacher Iman Alattar. “When connecting with families and students, I constantly hear and see how much ALVA has transformed their lives and allowed students to grow and thrive in a safe, welcoming environment.”

ALVA fosters a sense of community, through online interactions and in-person events—such as school carnivals and family gatherings—during the year. Graduating seniors walk at an in-person ceremony every spring. Virtual clubs and student organizations also allow students to further explore their interests together in the online setting.

Families are encouraged to attend an in-person or online information session hosted by the school. For more information on how to enroll, and for a schedule of upcoming information sessions, visit https://alva.k12.com/
