The Office of Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson recently won two international awards — a Hermes Creative Gold Award and a Communicator Award of Distinction — both for excellence in a government website.

Developed in partnership with the Information Network of Arkansas (INA), the newly enhanced governor.arkansas.gov website features a fresh, modern look that is designed to keep Arkansas citizens and state employees informed of the operations and plans of the Office of the Governor.

“It is an honor to be recognized for our efforts to provide citizens a faster and more efficient delivery of public information through the website,” said JR Davis, Communications Director for the Office of Governor Hutchinson. “With Governor Hutchinson’s focus on technology, it’s even more meaningful for the website to be recognized as a benchmark for government websites across the globe.”

The governor.arkansas.gov homepage tiles feature the Governor’s top priorities, allowing for citizens to quickly access the latest information on the computer science initiative, government transformation, economic development, tax cuts, and Veteran care. Citizens can also experience a virtual tour of the governor’s mansion, as well as stay up-to-date with news from around the state in the new blog, 250. The blog, named after the suite number of the Governor’s office, goes beyond press conferences and bill signings to offer a glimpse of the day-to-day life of Governor Hutchinson.

New pages are continually added to the website, including a page featuring the recently announced cabinet secretaries. In addition, the new site was delivered on a platform that allows the Governor’s staff to make updates as needed — providing for fresh content that citizens can easily consume from any device.

With over 6,500 entries throughout the United States and nineteen other countries, the Hermes Creative Awards recognizes outstanding work in the marketing and communications industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of its professionals. Governor.arkansas.gov was honored with a Gold Award for its high standard of excellence in the Government Website category. The Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) oversees the Hermes Creative Awards and recognition programs, and has judged more than 200,000 entries since its formation in 1994.

With over 6,000 entries received worldwide, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. Governor.arkansas.gov was recognized with a Communicator Award of Distinction in the government website category.
