Bird Canada today announced that its shared e-scooters are now available for use in the City of Edmonton. More than 400 Bird One e-scooters are now available throughout the City, providing residents and visitors to Edmonton with a quick, easy, and low-cost way to get around.

The inexpensive to rent, easy to use, and fun to ride Bird One e-scooters provide a safe ride by putting the rider at the center of the e-scooter experience. The e-scooters are built to meet the demands of Canadian cities like Edmonton with custom-designed semi-solid tubeless wheels that deliver a smooth, comfortable, and controlled ride.

“The response we’ve received since our e-scooters first launched in Calgary three weeks ago has exceeded our expectations. Residents there have taken more than 150,000 scooter rides in just a short time, and we’re certain Edmontonians will enjoy the experience just as much,” said Stewart Lyons, CEO of Bird Canada. “We are thrilled to have Edmonton as our second Canadian location and look forward to seeing residents and visitors to the city getting around on the best-designed e-scooter in the market.”

How Bird Canada works:

  • Through the Bird smartphone app, riders can locate the most conveniently located Bird e-scooter and ride directly to their desired destination.
  • New riders are provided an in-app tutorial on how to ride a Bird and how to park it, and clear safety instructions are posted on each vehicle.
  • Riders are encouraged to wear a helmet and can request a free helmet be sent to them through the app.

Bird Canada recently held a successful s.h.a.r.e. Safe Streets event in Calgary, and will soon be bringing the tour to Edmonton. The tour is designed to ensure responsible riding by making safety simple and giving riders (and members of the community) attainable and actionable tips to use for their next ride. Together with neighborhoods, Bird Canada provides individuals the opportunity to learn about road safety including how to responsibly and properly ride and park shared e-scooters such as Birds. In partnership with local organizations, businesses, and health and safety experts, Bird Canada will showcase the fundamentals of safe road use for non-car users. The tour will include micro-mobility vehicle basics, free helmets and helmet fittings, tutorials of local rules of the road and parking best practices. Stay tuned to Bird Canada’s social media channels for additional information regarding event location and timing.

Edmonton is the second city in Canada to operate Bird e-scooters, and among the growing list of more than 100 cities in North America, Europe, and the Middle East to provide access to the safe and affordable micro-mobility solution.
