Carbon Health, the technology-enabled healthcare provider, announced today that veteran technology leader Claire Hough has joined as the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Hough now leads the platform and product engineering teams at Carbon Health in its continued pursuit to develop technology that improves access to healthcare. As CTO, Hough will oversee and scale the engineering team, as well as lead priority projects focused on getting essential healthcare to those most currently vulnerable.

“Technology is at the heart of Carbon Health’s innovative model, playing a crucial role in shifting care delivery and addressing disparities in healthcare,” said Carbon Health co-founder and CEO, Eren Bali. “Claire’s experience working with growing startups will be critical as we grow exponentially and continue to drive innovation. Claire is passionate about working for mission-driven companies, and she shares our commitment to increase access to high-quality care.”

A technology industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience, Hough has helped over half a dozen companies grow and scale their teams to deliver impact-driving products and services. Hough led engineering teams at early disruptors including Netscape, Napster, Nextag and more. She later joined Udemy, where she led the engineering team and partnered with Eren Bali, who was leading the company at the time, to advance the company’s mission to empower people by making education more accessible.

Hough shares Carbon Health’s commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion. She is a founding member of Persistence, a community that strengthens connections between women leaders and supports women of color to move into senior leadership ranks across the tech industry. She is also on the board of Birchbox, Tendermint and on the advisory board of Lyte and Clearly.

“I have been impressed with Carbon Health’s approach to delivering accessible healthcare and the impact they’ve had in just a few short years. The company’s work has been exemplified by their efforts during the pandemic as they accelerated access to care, testing and vaccinations,” said Hough. “The technology the engineering team has built is solving a wide range of challenges and issues in healthcare, including the care delivery model. I’m honored to lead such a talented team, and look forward to continuing to build out a diverse team to meet the company’s aggressive growth plans.”

The engineering team is hiring 50 new roles this year. To learn more about Carbon Health, or to view available jobs, visit carbonhealth.com.
