The HiWire Consortium, a non-profit corporation supporting the advancement and adoption of HiWire Active Electrical Cables (AECs), announced today that Celestica has joined the HiWire Consortium.

“Our Cloud Service Provider customers have increasing demand to deliver an open, flexible, reliable and scalable network,” said Randy Clark, Senior Director, Product Solutions at Celestica. “HiWire Active Electrical Cables are an innovative solution to connect the building blocks in Celestica’s modular platforms, enabling a new, comprehensive data center system solution architecture,” he said. “We look forward to working with the other members of the HiWire Consortium to promote solutions that optimize system flexibility and drive maximum value creation for customers.” Randy stated.

“The data center network is constantly evolving to both reducing power and increasing data rates, but must do so reliably and cost effectively,” said Stephen Cheng, General Manager of Celestica Design Center. “ Today, our customers can realize immediate cost savings by switching to HiWire AECs, which are similar in performance to fiber but offer improved reliability, lower cost and half power,” Stephen said. “For these reasons, we support the HiWire Consortium’s plug & play AEC interconnect standard,” he concluded.

“We enthusiastically welcome Celestica to the HiWire Consortium and are excited by the growing membership joining in our work to enable an ecosystem of truly plug & play Active Electrical Cables in network architecture applications,” said Sheng Huang, President of HiWire Consortium.
