Champion ONE, a leading supplier of open optical network solutions, is announcing the general availability of a 100G Coherent Open Network Switch.
In addition to 16 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) QSFP28 ports for Ethernet connections, this switch also features 8 CFP2 slots for digital coherent optics (DCO). These ports integrate the functionality of a 100 GbE switch and coherent transponder in a compact 1.5 rack unit (1.5RU) enclosure. By offering 100G transmission over 2000km (or 200G transmission over 800km), this is a cost-effective, highly scalable solution for long-haul applications in telecom and mobile service providers; cloud providers; and data center providers with high bandwidth requirements.
The 100G coherent switch can also be seen as a complementary solution to Champion ONE’s new 100G Active DWDM Open Line System, released in June 2019. The Open Line System can connect to the 16 QSFP28 ports on the coherent switch for easy-to-deploy link aggregation to solve fiber scarcity challenges.
