Clockwise, the smart calendar assistant that’s reimagining the way people work, announced today the launch of its new intelligent scheduling experience, built for the future of work. As workers continue to demand more flexibility for where and how work gets done, Clockwise is offering a first-of-its-kind scheduling engine that uses artificial intelligence to make scheduling smarter.

Traditional calendar applications schedule meetings around a single data point, whether a time slot is free or booked. As a result, workers end up with schedules that hurt their productivity — whether it’s hours of back-to-back Zoom calls, or a meeting falling in the middle of a block of Focus Time designated to get work done on key projects.

The new intelligent scheduler from Clockwise makes scheduling effortless with smart suggestions, right in Google Calendar. Clockwise automatically generates these smart suggestions, based on more than ten factors, including:

  • Meeting time preferences (e.g., morning or afternoon)
  • Time zones (e.g., for globally or regionally distributed teams)
  • Work hours (e.g., full time or part time)
  • Focus Time (e.g., will this meeting interrupt a block of free time for getting productive work done)

Meeting organizers can instantly see which time(s) are the most convenient for all attendees to connect.

“The pandemic has made it even more difficult to find focus — from non-stop Zoom calls to kids shouting in the background, we’re all struggling to prioritize our time,” said Matt Martin, Co-Founder and CEO of Clockwise. “We built an intelligent scheduler to make it radically easier for teams to collaborate, while preserving time for everyone to focus on their most important work.”

According to the latest Clockwise data, the time spent in team meetings has increased by 25% as people have shifted to working from home since the start of the pandemic. In a recent survey, the company found that users said Clockwise had increased their Focus Time (uninterrupted work time) by 39%, and increased their productivity at work by 32%, on average. The company also found that about 60% of its users view scheduling and rescheduling meetings as a significant pain point.

“This problem is deeply felt by Engineering organizations and teams, where Focus Time is a precious commodity,” said Martin. “Without adequate Focus Time, Engineers lack the critical heads-down and problem-solving time to develop and deliver effective products on time and of the highest quality.”

Engineering leaders running world-class software development teams, such as Datadog, rely on Clockwise to increase their productivity and impact. The new scheduling experience addresses this need by automating meeting scheduling, a typically time-consuming task.

“There’s nothing more important than time, you can’t buy time. With Clockwise, over two years of organic calendar fragmentation was fixed the day after Clockwise was installed, allowing Datadog employees greater control over balancing their time,” said Emilio Escobar, Chief Information Security Officer, Datadog.

Since launching in 2019, Clockwise has optimized the calendars for hundreds of thousands of workers. Clockwise secured $18M Series B funding in June 2020 despite a global pandemic, bringing the company’s total funding raised to $31.6M.
