On August 29, CSC Chief Executive Officer Rodman Ward III presented a check for $100,000 to REACH Riverside’s Chief Financial Strategist Dave Ford. This money will be used to help create the 19th Purpose Built Community in the United States. A national leader in holistic community revitalization, Purpose Built Communities works alongside local leaders to plan and implement redevelopment projects tailored to a community’s needs and dynamics.

Redevelopment, Education And Community Health (REACH) Riverside is the local liaison working with Purpose Built Communities to fundraise and lead the transformation of the Riverside neighborhood in Northeast Wilmington under this bold new initiative.
“It is time for positive change in Riverside, a neighborhood that has experienced too many broken promises over the years,” says Ward.
This initiative endeavors to transform the Riverside neighborhood into a healthy and vibrant mixed-income community while creating pathways out of poverty for the low-income families who live there. The project will include the development of 600 new high-quality housing units, education programs that will include a pre-K-12 continuum with the goal of 100% high school graduation rates, and family-oriented health and wellness services.
“A project like this is impossible to do alone,” says Ford, in thanking Ward and CSC. “The success of our efforts depends on the commitment from the surrounding community, and CSC’s donation greatly improves the likelihood for a win.”
CSC’s donation will help transform the former Prestige Academy Charter School into The Warehouse. Opening in January 2020, The Warehouse will revolutionize teen engagement in Wilmington by creating an after school site that offers academic and social services, challenges youth creativity, and helps the kids develop skills they need to experience success in the 21st century economy.
