Current Health, which offers the leading FDA-cleared, artificial intelligence (AI)-powered remote patient management platform, today announced it has appointed healthcare industry veteran Todd Rothenhaus to its Board of Directors. Rothenhaus, an experienced physician and healthcare executive, brings invaluable insight to Current Health on patient preferences, hospital and ambulatory operations, and the complex U.S. healthcare system.
Currently CEO of Cohealo, Inc. – a tech-enablement service that saves health systems money by orchestrating capital equipment sharing across health networks – Rothenhaus most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at athenahealth, Inc., where he led the company’s Network Knowledge division, Population Health Management service and the athenaClinicals EHR. Before that, he was Chief Innovation Officer of Steward Health Care, the largest physician-led, private health system in the U.S. There, he led deployment of inpatient and ambulatory EHR systems. Rothenhaus is extremely passionate about how patient care and experiences can be improved via innovative solutions, having also worked as an attending physician in Boston’s busiest emergency department.
“Todd is one of the most experienced healthcare executives in the U.S., bringing unique and deep experience from both Athenahealth and Steward. He’s also an experienced physician who understands what it’s like to be on the front-line,” said Chris McCann, CEO and co-founder, Current Health. “We wanted someone who combined experience leading healthcare companies with firsthand medical experience to provide insight into healthcare systems’ strategic priorities and how to best engage healthcare providers. Because of his epic career and multi-faceted experience, Todd was an ideal fit for Current Health as we look to grow and scale our business in the U.S. and beyond.”
“I’ve spent my entire career at the intersection of technology and clinical care. Unfortunately, a big part of my 30-year experience has been spent watching healthcare IT incumbents focus on old workflows of paper-based care and miss the opportunity to actually improve patient experiences and outcomes,” said Rothenhaus. “Unlike many health tech industry entrants that focus solely on technology solutions addressing pointed issues, Current Health’s platform is built on deep expertise across device manufacturing, service delivery and patient engagement. It’s because of this that they have been able to grow so rapidly, and why I had to join this revolutionary team. Current Health is the most exciting company I have seen in years. ”
