Digital Guardian today announced that the Digital Guardian Data Protection Platform has been designated a Cyber Catalyst℠ cybersecurity solution following an independent evaluation by leading cyber insurers. A first of its kind, the Cyber Catalyst by Marsh℠ program was created by Marsh, with Microsoft serving as a technical advisor, for cyber insurers to identify cybersecurity solutions they consider effective in reducing cyber risk.

The Cyber Catalyst program convened eight leading cyber insurers – Allianz; AXIS; AXA XL, a division of AXA; Beazley; CFC; Munich Re; Sompo International; and Zurich North America – that individually assessed cybersecurity solutions along six key criteria:

  • Reduction of cyber risk: Demonstrated ability to address major enterprise cyber risk such as data breach, theft or corruption; business interruption; or cyber extortion.
  • Key performance metrics: Demonstrated ability to quantitatively measure and report on factors that reduce the frequency or severity of cyber events.
  • Viability: Client-use cases and successful implementation.
  • Efficiency: Demonstrated ability of users to successfully implement and govern the use of the product to reduce cyber risk.
  • Flexibility: Broad applicability to a range of companies/industries.
  • Differentiation: Distinguishing features and characteristics.

More than 150 cybersecurity offerings, spanning a broad range of categories from hardware to messaging security to IoT security, were submitted for consideration. After insurers separately evaluated, deliberated, and voted on all submissions, the Digital Guardian Data Protection Platform was one of only 17 cybersecurity solutions and products to receive the Cyber Catalyst℠ designation.

“In the highly complex cybersecurity marketplace, Cyber Catalyst gives business leaders greater clarity and confidence in their cybersecurity choices,” said Tom Reagan, US Cyber Practice Leader at Marsh, which created the Cyber Catalyst program. “We’re excited to showcase leading-edge solutions like the Digital Guardian Data Protection Platform, which was identified by participating insurers as able to have a meaningful impact on cyber risk.”

The Digital Guardian Data Protection Platform detects threats and stops data exfiltration from both well-meaning and malicious insiders as well as external adversaries. It converges data loss prevention (DLP) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) to consolidate and simplify an organization’s security program, yielding one less endpoint agent to manage and one less console to monitor. Importantly, the Platform puts an organization’s most sensitive information assets at the center of all data protection, activity monitoring, and threat prevention, detection, and response activities.

“Digital Guardian is optimal for data-rich businesses that deploy DLP and EDR as a programmatic piece of their overall data governance strategy. It’s an honor for our Digital Guardian Data Protection Platform to be one of the first Cyber Catalyst-designated solutions,” said Mordecai Rosen, chief executive officer, Digital Guardian. “In a world that’s becoming smaller and more interconnected by the day, we empower customers to identify and protect their most sensitive data. We will continue this mission and build upon the trust that Digital Guardian has earned from its customers and industry institutions. ”
