Doctor On Demand, the nation’s leading virtual care provider, today announced that it has joined the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC). The mission of the PCPCC is to advance an effective and efficient health system built on a strong foundation of primary care. Joining the PCPCC reflects Doctor On Demand’s strong commitment to improving how, when and where patients receive primary care services.

“It’s our mission to improve patient health through compassionate care and innovation, and we believe that advancing primary care is where we can have the most impact on patients’ lives,” said Hill Ferguson, CEO of Doctor On Demand. “As the first virtual care provider to join the PCPCC, we continue our commitment to transforming primary care to meet the needs of patients and payers.”

This year, Doctor On Demand launched Synapse – a first-to-market, fully-integrated platform enabling employers and health plans nationwide to deliver primary care virtually. This development positions virtual care to offer more than ever before, reducing fragmented care and expanding services from urgent care to fully integrated primary care inclusive of behavioral health, preventive care and chronic care management. In its first in-market implementation of Synapse, Doctor On Demand partnered with Humana to launch On Hand™ – an affordable health plan that centers on comprehensive virtual primary care. Through On Hand, members have access to ongoing and follow-up quality care from a dedicated primary care physician, a breadth of in-network services, and an expanded care team all at lower monthly premiums and a $0 copay.

“Transforming primary care to achieve the ‘Quadruple Aim’ of better care, better health, lower costs, and greater joy for clinicians and staff in delivery of care requires innovation,” said Ann Greiner, President & CEO of PCPCC. “We’re thrilled to have the support and input from the nation’s leading virtual care provider to help guide the advancement of primary care.”

Doctor On Demand provides nationwide access to board-certified physicians, psychiatrists, licensed psychologists and a care coordination team via video visits, voice and messaging, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Doctor On Demand delivers medical and behavioral health services to patients through partnerships with hundreds of employers, dozens of health plans and directly to consumers.
