Press Ganey today announced that Tejal Gandhi, MD, MPH, has joined the organization as Chief Safety and Transformation Officer. Dr. Gandhi was most recently Chief Clinical and Safety Officer at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), where she led programs focused on improving patient and workforce safety. Prior to this, Dr. Gandhi was President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) from 2013 until 2017, when NPSF merged with IHI.

“Tejal is one of the leading voices for patient and caregiver safety,” said Patrick T. Ryan, Executive Chairman, Press Ganey. “Her expertise will help advance the Zero Harm movement for Press Ganey clients across the continuum of care and drive our new 2025 Safety Pledge, to be launched at our National Client Conference later this month.”

Earlier this year, Dr. Gandhi was elected as a member of the National Academy of Medicine. She is a recipient of the John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award, given in recognition of her contributions to understanding the epidemiology of medical errors in the outpatient setting and for developing prevention strategies. Dr. Gandhi has also been named as one of the “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives” by Modern Healthcare magazine.

“Safety of patients and the workforce is foundational to everything we do to ensure that patients receive the highest quality care,” said Dr. Gandhi. “Press Ganey’s focus on supporting enterprise transformation, combined with its broad industry reach, will enable more rapid advancement of safety improvements across the care continuum. I’m truly excited to have the opportunity to directly impact that change through my role at Press Ganey.”

An internist by training, Dr. Gandhi previously served as Executive Director of Quality and Safety at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and as Chief Quality and Safety Officer at Partners Healthcare. She received her MD and MPH degrees from Harvard Medical School and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and trained at Duke University Medical Center.
