“As emergency physicians lead the charge to protect our communities and slow the spread of COVID-19, they need information quickly and accessibly,” said William Jaquis, M.D., FACEP, president of ACEP. “By providing this app to emergency care teams across the country, we will strengthen the way we care for patients as our knowledge of the virus and how to treat it grows.”

The bite-sized app is an “expert at your fingertips” with critical information and continuously updated COVID-19 practices essential to patient care and infection control. Each emergency department can add their own local workflows to give frontline teams department-specific support.

ACEP and Elemeno believe rapid availability of the customized microlearning app could be of great benefit to frontline emergency department teams throughout the country in light of the evolving nature of COVID-19. A premium version of the app has already been adopted by several emergency departments for COVID-19 nationally.

“Elemeno Health will allow staff to receive up to the minute information, protocol modifications and education, including “how-to” videos, on any device they choose: smart phone, tablet, laptop or desktop,” said Dr. Bruce Auerbach, a member of the ACEP Quality & Patient Safety Committee and co-lead of the Elemeno-ACEP content advisory panel.

“It has no protected health information, so it’s HIPAA compliant, and requires no IS staff time to implement or update. As both a former emergency department Chief, hospital Chief Medical Officer and CEO, I see Elemeno Health as one emerging essential tool for the emergency department armamentarium.”

Dr. Arup Roy-Burman, CEO of Elemeno Health, adds, “Now more than ever, healthcare is a team effort requiring agility and speed. We are thrilled to disseminate ACEP’s expertise nationally while providing emergency departments with a solution to streamline team communication and point-of-care training locally during this pandemic.”

Elemeno Health and ACEP expect beta testing to be completed in May, followed by general availability to emergency departments nationally.
