The Korn Ferry Tour and Ellie Mae Classic, sponsored by Ellie Mae® – the leading cloud-based platform provider for the mortgage finance industry – today announced golfers Brandon Wu and Ian Gilligan have joined the 2019 Ellie Mae Classic golf tournament as the sponsor exemption and junior exemption, respectively. The tournament will take place July 29 – August 4 at TPC Stonebrae in Hayward, California.

Bay Area native and sponsor exemption, Brandon Wu, is currently ranked No. 6 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and finished T-35, as the second best scoring amateur in the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. Brandon graduated from Stanford University in June 2019 and, after missing his graduation ceremony for the final round of the U.S. Open, was awarded his diploma behind the 18th green.

Sixteen-year-old golf prodigy Ian Gilligan earned the Ellie Mae Classic unrestricted exemption after firing a 68 to win the 2019 Ellie Mae Classic Junior Qualifier, hosted in partnership with the NCGA Junior Tour at Poppy Ridge.

Ian was second at the 2019 Nevada State High School Championships at Somersett in Reno, Nevada and he won the Northern Nevada Regional High School Championship for the past two years. After being diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2018, Ian took a brief hiatus from golf to fight the disease and has since recovered and is continuing to compete in junior tournaments.

“We are proud to welcome these two spectacular players to the field at the 2019 Ellie Mae Classic,” said Trish Gregovich, Ellie Mae Classic Tournament Director. “This year’s tournament will bring together some of the world’s most talented golfers as they vie for coveted PGA TOUR cards and compete on our spectacular course. From Stephan Jaeger’s record-setting 58 to Steph Curry bringing record fans, this tour stop never disappoints.”

Free tickets to watch Brandon and Ian play during the regular Ellie Mae Classic Tournament (Thursday, August 1 – Sunday, August 4) can be found at elliemaeclassic.com/grounds-tickets/.
