ERI, the nation’s leading recycler of electronic waste and the world’s largest IT asset disposition provider and cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company, will once again team up with the Broadway Green Alliance (BGA) for the annual free winter e-waste drive for the theatre community and its fans.
The e-waste collection drive will take place on Wednesday, January 22 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Breezeway located outside of the Minskoff Theatre (200 W. 45th Street). All Broadway shows, theatres, industry members, and theatre-goers and fans are invited to participate by dropping off unwanted electronics.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their electronic waste to this semi-annual drive, which aims to lessen the amount of dangerous waste sent to landfills. Attendees are encouraged to donate old electronics to be properly recycled or repurposed.
Electronics approved for donation include cell phones, copy machines, computer peripherals (mice, keyboards, wires, etc.), desktop computers, DVD players, fax machines, laptops, monitors, printers, paper shredders, storage media, stereo equipment and iPods. The drive will not accept hazardous waste, such as household appliances, lamps, light bulbs, items with mercury, or any bio-hazardous material.
The event is designed to provide the theatre and local communities an opportunity to safely unload their outdated, unusable or unwanted consumer electronic items for proper and responsible recycling.
ERI will recycle the e-waste collected at the event, destroying all data (even when a device is not fully destroyed) and recycling or refurbishing all items in an environmentally responsible manner.
