ETQ, the leading provider of quality management and environmental health and safety solutions, today announced the 2020 finalists for the ETQ Innovation Excellence Awards. The finalists for this year’s awards all demonstrated significant achievement in the main award criteria, including:

  • Very high relevance to ETQ’s core quality and safety markets
  • Measurable and meaningful return on investment (ROI)
  • Demonstrated expertise in maximizing Reliance’s configurability and integration capabilities

The finalists will present their award applications at ETQ Quality Vision 2020, the company’s annual customer conference at the Hilton Miami Downtown in Miami, Florida, March 2 to March 6. The theme for this year’s conference is “Inspire Excellence.”

The 2020 ETQ Innovation Excellence Award Finalists are:

ETS – ETS’ mission is to advance quality and equity in education by providing fair and valid assessments, research and related services. ETS’s Innovation Award submission was based on its creation of a “Controls Module,” a unified system for maintaining operational readiness in advance of any new test administration. The Controls Module automated what was once a manual process for tracking, reporting, and rework and delivered real-time data for reporting with reduced costs and allowed the firm’s professionals and subject matter exerts to devote their time to more highly valued work.

United Airlines – United’s award entry involved the incorporation of machine learning algorithms into the regular Reliance workflow. Utilizing extensive quality and safety data collected in its Reliance systems, United developed several predictive models to match, improve, and standardize analyst processing. The predictive models work for 1) external communications during a standard workflow and 2) processing recommendations during an analyst review. For United, this means that its 24/7 operation remains uninterrupted by processes needed to deal with data flagged as questionable.

Varian Medical Systems – “Varian Requests” is a custom-built application in ETQ Reliance to handle requests and approvals to provide automated access to any application. Varian Requests allows users to initiate a request for ETQ application access, to setup roles within the ETQ QMS and to ensure every staffer undertakes the require training on the application before access approval is granted by the application “owner.” The module is simple, scalable and extendable and uses minimal to no coding. It can accommodate any changes in pre-configured Reliance solutions and applications, as well as new and highly configured Reliance elements.

“ETQ Vision 2020 provides us all – customers, partners, industry experts and ETQers – a forum to meet, to learn from each other, and explore business-drivers behind exemplary quality and safety,” said Robert Gremley, ETQ, CEO. “More importantly, however, we come together to find a path to changing the perception of quality as a barrier to efficiency to that of a genuine catalyst to continuous improvement and business excellence.”
