This Sunday is Mother’s Day, and since many people view their mom as a
do-everything superhero, it begs the question which celebrity would you
want to play your mom in a movie about her life? According to a new Groupon
survey of 2,000 adults, Meryl Streep, Sally Field, Julia Roberts,
Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie, Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, Michelle Obama,
Melissa McCarthy and Queen Latifah were the top celebrity choices to
play Mom on the silver screen. A plurality of respondents said that no
one can play their mom but Mom herself.

The study by market researchers OnePoll––and commissioned by
Groupon––was conducted in recognition of Groupon’s
Vintage Mom campaign
––celebrating the unique life stories of Moms
everywhere. And when it comes to knowing about your own mom’s life
story, the results found that 90 percent of people felt that they know a
great deal about their mom’s life and more than 70 percent of people
want to know even more.

“Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to not only celebrate what your
mom has done for you, but what she’s done throughout her entire life,”
said Groupon President of North America Aaron Cooper. “While most of us
feel like we know everything we possibly can about our mom, these
results show that there’s a strong appetite to learn even more about her
life story and the passions that drive her interests.”

What did the survey find that people know the most and least about their
mom’s life story?

Top five things people know:

1. Where she grew up

2. Where she went to high school or college

3. The street she grew up on

4. Her first job

5. Her genealogy/ancestry

Top five things people don’t know:

1. How many pets she had as a kid

2. Old partner(s)

3. Favorite subject in school

4. Childhood hobbies

5. What she wanted to be when she grew up

In addition, less than half of survey respondents knew their mom’s
favorite food (45 percent), flower (37 percent), song (30 percent),
movie (29 percent), clothing store (28 percent), travel destination (23
percent), actor/actress (21 percent) and alcoholic drink (21 percent).
