The Digital Legal Exchange (DLEX) today announced the appointment of Isabel Parker as co-Executive Director as of November 30, 2020. DLEX is a nonprofit, independent membership forum for general counsel and their business colleagues who are committed to digitally transforming their corporate legal functions to drive better commercial value. In her role, Parker will work alongside co-Executive Director Reena SenGupta to lead the organization and deliver on its mission to transform legal functions into digital partners and economic enablers of business.

Parker joins DLEX from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Freshfields) where she was Chief Legal Innovation Officer and Global Head of Knowledge. During her time at Freshfields, the firm was named the most innovative law firm in Europe for 2019. Parker was also named one of the top 10 innovative lawyers in the FT Innovative Lawyers Report for 2018, and was this year honored as a winner in the European Women of Legal Tech professional services category. Parker is also an experienced non-executive board member in the legal education and technology sectors.

“I am delighted to be joining DLEX alongside Reena,” said Parker. “Having worked with many clients on their digital transformation strategies, I am confident that the DLEX approach, which aligns the legal function with the broader enterprise, is key to generating business value. I am excited to be joining an organization that is committed to reimagining the legal profession.”

DLEX brings together a unique faculty that is comprised of thought-leaders and experts in diverse fields, all committed to helping businesses as they navigate the digital transformation process for legal. The nonprofit offers a suite of proprietary capabilities and offerings, including DLEX’s unique Digital Alignment Survey and signature workshops that partner in-house legal leaders with their business colleagues. DLEX professionals provide legal departments with a deeper understanding of becoming digital by connecting them with fellow general counsel, digital officers, and other C-Suite executives. Being part of the DLEX community affords a unique opportunity to share experiences and insights, offering proprietary data, podcasts, case studies and self-help tools on digital transformation.

“What makes DLEX unique is our focus on aligning legal with the business and our ability to be a hub for outstanding thought leadership in the legal industry via our faculty,” said Reena SenGupta. “Isabel’s record of creating an environment for innovation and making change happen will make her a key addition to the DLEX core team and deeply enhance the experience of our members.”

“The pandemic has accelerated digital transformation and reinforced its primacy within the C-Suite,” said DLEX Executive Chairman Mark A. Cohen. “Business is more focused than ever on customers—how to reimagine the delivery of goods and services more accessibly, transparently, cost-effectively, efficiently, competitively and pleasurably. The legal function is not immune from this process; it too must focus on the businesses it serves as well as their customers. The legal function must drive value. Isabel’s exceptional training, experience, agility, and passion will be invaluable assets for the Exchange and its members. We are thrilled to have her on board.”

Parker joins DLEX at a time of exciting growth and development. Since forming in early 2020, DLEX has played a pivotal role in key digital legal events including: partnering with the Financial Times Live and RSG Consulting for the first-ever FT Digital Lawyers Conference; taking a prominent role in The Economist Events’ General Counsel Virtual Week; and joining TechLaw.Fest as Digital Transformation Partner.
