Shortcomings in leadership and insufficient ability to grasp business insights are among the major skills gaps facing the cybersecurity workforce, according to ISACA’s 2020 State of Cybersecurity report. Additionally, the 2019 IT Audit Benchmarking Survey from ISACA and Protiviti revealed that communications expertise is considered one of the top five skills in demand for IT audit professionals. ISACA and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management are working to address these areas of need and provide IT professionals with specialized training to build leadership and communication skills by launching the first course in the new ISACA Executive Education Series, The ROI of Transformative Leadership, in July 2020.

Through this inaugural educational collaboration, IT professionals will grow their business acumen, leadership and persuasion skills in classroom sessions taught by faculty from Kellogg—with a focus on both lectures and experiential learning—and receive a certificate from Kellogg and 28 CPEs upon completion. Lessons over the three and a half day on-campus program will cover topics such as how to negotiate, deliver and receive feedback, master storytelling, and hone influence, as well as how to build and implement personal leadership strategies and develop a framework for effective decision-making—the kind of skills that are increasingly important to build as they cannot be lost to automation.

The ISACA Executive Education Series is among the innovations in ISACA’s learning offerings across diverse platforms and formats following the recent appointment of the global association’s first chief learning officer, Nader Qaimari.

“As a global learning organization and dynamic professional community, it is essential that ISACA design and deliver educational experiences that meet the unique needs of the professionals we serve,” says Qaimari. “We are excited to partner with such a reputable institution as Northwestern University to address prevalent skills gaps and position our members to become stronger leaders.”

The ROI of Transformative Leadership program also includes accommodations at the James L. Allen Center at Northwestern’s Chicago Lakefront Campus. In addition to the educational experience, attendees will have ample opportunities to network and will have access to full-service dining and refreshments, university libraries, the Sport Pavilion Aquatics Center (SPAC) and social hours at the Conference Center.

The program is open to executives and aspiring executives in the IT and information systems industry and costs US$7,500 per person, which is all inclusive. Learn more information about the program, including the faculty speakers, here.
