School districts across the country are making major investments in
edtech as teachers continue to push for digital learning capabilities in
the classroom. That trend is becoming increasingly evident as Schoology,
the leading K-12 learning management and assessment platform, announced
a series of recent customer wins that illustrate the market shift toward
K-12-focused learning management systems (LMS) as the new standard for
school districts.

This year more than 100 school districts of all sizes from coast to
coast selected Schoology as their LMS solution. Notable districts
include:

  • Spring Independent School District, Texas (35,000 students)
  • Pittsburgh Public Schools, Pennsylvania (24,000 students)
  • Tempe Union High School District, Arizona (14,000 students)
  • Fort Smith School District, Arkansas (14,000 students)
  • Albemarle County Public Schools, Virginia (14,000 students)
  • St. Charles Community Unit School District, Illinois (12,000 students)

“The primary objectives for our district are to improve academic
performance, align curriculum and assessments, and provide professional
development and support to ensure students receive high-quality
instruction,” stated Scott Gutowski, chief information technology
officer for Pittsburgh Public Schools. “As a K-12 focused learning
management system, Schoology is the best platform for us to achieve
these objectives.”

In its 2018-19 Digital
Learning Survey
, Schoology found that almost 40% of teachers
surveyed listed juggling multiple tools for teaching and learning as a
challenge. Having an easy-to-use LMS to manage what’s happening inside
and outside the classroom is where school districts are headed.

“We are thrilled to see all of these new districts selecting Schoology
as the platform of choice to improve student performance, foster
collaboration, and personalize learning,” said Schoology CEO and
Co-Founder, Jeremy Friedman. “Our laser focus on community and
collaboration within the U.S. K-12 market better positions us to deliver
a suite of products that our customers require.”

Schoology consistently communicates with classroom teachers for feedback
to ensure it’s offering exactly what K-12 districts need to advance
what’s possible in education. As an example, Schoology added assessment
management to its market-leading K-12 learning management solution.
Bringing together learning management with assessment provides classroom
instructors with a more comprehensive view of student performance and
better evaluates the effectiveness of the curriculum while satisfying
district-wide reporting and accountability requirements.

“We are just getting started,” Friedman continued. “Innovative features
for standards-based grading, student choice, assessment management and
personalized learning are being well received by both existing customers
and districts that are evaluating districtwide solutions.”
