Markforged, the leading provider of metal and carbon fiber 3D printers, today announced that it has appointed Shai Terem to be its President and Chief Operating Officer. Terem will be responsible for overseeing both day-to-day operations and all elements of go-to-market and company strategy, including sales, marketing, customer success, finance, people, and operations. He will report directly to CEO Greg Mark in this newly created role.

Terem joins Markforged with significant operational and leadership experience in the industrial 3D printing sector. Most recently, he served as President of the Americas region at Kornit Digital [NASDAQ: KRNT], a worldwide market leader in 2D digital printing for textiles. While there, Terem successfully relocated the company’s headquarters, restructured its go-to-market strategy, and grew customer satisfaction rates without sacrificing profitability. During his tenure, Kornit Digital enjoyed high growth and profitability with a significant increase in its share value. Before that, Terem spent four years with Stratasys [NASDAQ: SSYS], where he had roles in increasing leadership in product marketing, channel enablement, finance & operations — and was also responsible for channel sales for the West Coast territory.

“Shai packs the one-two punch of being an experienced leader in our industry and driven by a commercial mindset,” said Greg Mark, CEO and Co-Founder of Markforged. “He shares our vision for a digital manufacturing revolution, yet also has the practical expertise to help our customers, partners, and employees bring additive manufacturing to the masses. We are a stronger, smarter team with him on board, and I look forward to the many contributions he’ll make to bring predictable and profitable growth to Markforged and help us evolve to the next stage as a company.”

Terem comes to Markforged at a time of considerable growth. The company was recently named the fastest-growing 3D printer company and second-fastest-growing hardware company in America by Deloitte, and has seen a strong demand for its software and industrial-strength carbon fiber and metal 3D printers.

Earlier in the year, the company announced an $82 million Series D round of funding and has since opened its European headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, an R&D innovation center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a global manufacturing facility in Billerica, Massachusetts.

“Markforged is unmatched when it comes to customer satisfaction and true love for its product,” said Terem. “The 3D printing space has evolved considerably, but Markforged is the only true leader in taking manufacturing into the future. I’m thrilled to join this talented team and help further disrupt the way additive manufacturing solutions enable industries to get to the next level of innovation and efficiency.”
