“I am humbled and honored to serve as Chairman of such an important organization,” said Kemp of his nomination. “I appreciate the opportunity to continue serving my local community as the Chairman of the Indiana 811 Board of Directors and I look forward to using the role to improve the utility industry for homeowners, construction businesses and owners of underground infrastructure across the state.”

MetroNet Inc. executives say the latest nomination is part of the company’s longstanding commitment to safety within the industry. In September, MetroNet associate Chuck Muller was named to the Board of Directors of Ohio’s 811 organization.

“Along with MetroNet’s commitment to providing very high-speed fiber broadband services to communities, and as strong supporters and members of Indiana 811, we are dedicated to ensuring public safety and reducing the number of damage incidents statewide,” said MetroNet President John Cinelli. “We are thrilled to have another of MetroNet’s talented associates serving in this important role. With George’s expertise and experience, he will excel as the Chairman of the Indiana 811 Board of Directors, and we are excited to see his continued positive impact on the state of Indiana.”

Founded in 1981, Indiana 811 is a free statewide system designed to save time, money, costly lawsuits, and dramatically reduce accidental damage to underground utilities. The non-profit corporation is comprised of nearly 25 industry leaders from a variety of utility companies throughout the state of Indiana and provides coordination and notification services for homeowners, construction officials, utilities and owners of underground infrastructure.
