MITRE has been recognized as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion by the Disability Equality Index® (DEI). The index measures key performance indicators across organizational culture, leadership, accessibility, employment practices, community engagement, support services, and supplier diversity.

MITRE’s score of 90 on the DEI demonstrates a proactive commitment to ensuring an inclusive workplace for people with disabilities.

“Our success is enabled by innovation grounded in inclusion and diversity,” said Kathleen Federico, senior vice president, chief people and corporate strategy officer. “We are proud to be named a Best Place to Work by the Disability Equality Index and the recognition of our cultural values. The different experiences and contributions of our people allow us to deliver on our mission of solving problems for a safer world.”

Part of MITRE’s commitment to an inclusive workplace means making every reasonable effort to ensure that people with disabilities can work effectively and productively at MITRE. Additionally, MITRE research teams work on technology that makes government systems more accessible for their employees and the public.

“Based on our shared values and cultural attributes, we strive for a sense of belonging by all, which is why we support our people—personally and professionally,” said Stephanie Turner, vice president of inclusion, diversity, and social innovation. “We are in the early stage of our inclusion and diversity journey and are excited by the unlimited opportunities we have to make positive progress.”

Inclusion and diversity are integrated throughout MITRE’s corporate strategic initiatives. MITRE is dedicated to cultivating an inclusive work environment where we can attract, develop, and retain diverse innovators, learners, knowledge-sharers, and risk-takers, as well as strengthen and expand our social impact in underserved communities.

About the Disability Equality Index®

The DEI is a national, transparent benchmarking tool that offers businesses an opportunity to self-report their disability inclusion policies and practices. It was developed by two national leaders, American Association of People with Disabilities and Disability:IN, in consultation with the appointed DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of experts in business, policy, and disability advocacy.
