Mosyle, the leader in modern Apple MDM and security, today announced the appointment of Michael Donlan as the company’s first chief operating officer. In his new role, Donlan is responsible for implementing world-class business operations to support the company’s next phase of growth driven by the unprecedented adoption of Apple devices in the enterprise and education markets.

“Organizations are increasingly adopting Apple devices, and that’s good news for Mosyle,” said Alcyr Araujo, founder and CEO, Mosyle. “However, to meet the demand and continue to deliver modern MDM solutions and updates, we need to be operating at peak efficiency. Not only will Michael ensure we have a strong operational foundation today for continued growth tomorrow, but the experience in both cloud and devices, relationships and leadership expertise he’s gained over his career will be instrumental.”

An established education player, Apple has seen a significant surge in the enterprise market. IDC’s MarketScape: Unified Endpoint Management for Apple Device Report shows that macOS is the operating system for 23% of computers at U.S. companies with 1,000 employees or more, up from 17% in 2019. Additionally, Mac devices shipped to employees in the enterprise sector spiked 34% year over year in the second quarter of 2020, and more than half of smartphones in use at U.S. enterprises are iPhones. This market growth is causing many organizations to rethink their approach to endpoint security and management.

With 30 years of technology and leadership experience, Donlan brings an intimate understanding of the challenges enterprise, government, and education IT teams face when managing mobile devices. Most recently, he served as the Head of the U.S. Public Sector at Apple, where he was responsible for government and education sales, marketing, consulting, and pre-sales engineering. Before Apple, Michael spent more than 14 years at Microsoft, serving in senior executive roles across the globe in government, defense, education, and healthcare sectors. Donlan also held several senior technology, sales, and operations roles at BearingPoint, Oracle and the U.S. Government. Donlan holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from James Madison University, where he also serves as an adjunct professor and advisory board member to the College of Business Management.

“I am thrilled to join Mosyle at such an integral time for the company and the mobile device management market,” said Donlan. “I’ve worked closely with Mosyle in the past and was always impressed with how it is setting an entirely new standard in the market with its innovative solutions, ability to solve endpoint challenges and approach to customer service. I’ve stayed in close contact with Alcyr over the years, but I’m excited to officially join the team and help lay the proper operational foundation for continued hypergrowth.”

The addition to the C-suite comes after a momentous year for Mosyle. The company raised $32.9 million in November 2020 and has delivered several product innovations in 2021, including Mosyle Fuse, Mosyle Business Free and Mosyle Screen View.
