Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA), an accredited, full-time online public school, invites parents to imagine what their children could do with the right education, as students and teachers get ready to log on and start the 2019-2020 school year on August 19.

With over fifteen years as a trusted education program in the state of Ohio, OHVA offers a personalized approach to learning, delivering rich, engaging curriculum designed to assist students who seek alternative pathways to education. OHVA is authorized by the Ohio Council of Community Schools.

While attending OHVA, students can participate in the Destinations Career Program where they can discover exciting options for their future in career fields like Business and Information Technology. They can also earn college credits through partnerships with local colleges and universities and prepare to take industry-recognized certification exams upon graduation.

“This is high school, and our students should be allowed to see if a certain career pathway is right for them, and change their direction if it isn’t,” says Dr. Kris Stewart, OHVA Head of School. “We like to empower our students to shape their own future by giving them early exposure to a variety of career options.”

“It’s just simply the right time to start these conversations, and I’ve seen firsthand the impact that teaching high school students about future careers can have on their development,” said Lauren Logan, Dean of the career program at OHVA. “This sort of early discussion can set them on the right path, and potentially save them thousands of dollars in unnecessary college costs.”

In addition to online classes and career opportunities, OHVA also offers student clubs, in-person field trips, and social gatherings to foster a sense of school community.

Students choose online school for a variety of reasons including advanced learning, a bullying-free environment, and the ability to support extracurricular pursuits or medical needs. OHVA’s online platform gives students the opportunity to pursue their academic goals in a supportive environment and at an appropriate pace for their learning style.

OHVA is now accepting enrollments for the 2019-2020 school year. Families are encouraged to attend an online or in-person information session hosted by the school. More information on OHVA, how to enroll, and a schedule of upcoming events can be found at ohva.k12.com.
