Ontario Health has established mandatory requirements as part of the provincial standard for Virtual Visits Verification solutions for use within the Ontario health care sector. OnCall Health has attested that it and its virtual care platform meet the mandatory requirements and is now included on the Virtual Visits Verification solutions website.
“Verification of our virtual care platform means healthcare systems and enterprises in Ontario can now benefit from the branded and configurable solution that leaders in the private sector have been using for years,” says Nicholas Chepesiuk, CEO of OnCall Health. “Clients can take comfort knowing that our virtual care platform is aligned with the province’s Virtual Visits Solution standard and meets all of the provincial privacy, security, interoperability, and technical requirements. Our team is looking forward to working with Ontario’s physicians, hospitals, Family Health Teams (FHTs), Ontario Health Teams (OHTs), and Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) that want to launch and grow their own branded virtual care programs with a verified vendor.”
Vendor solutions that have attested to meeting the mandatory requirements for Virtual Visit Verification will be published on the Ontario Health (OTN) website, which provides a verified list of solutions for health care organizations, health care teams, and clinicians to select from when procuring a virtual care solution. Applying the provincial standard for virtual visits, virtual care services can be delivered using safe, secure, and interoperable platforms. These were developed in consultation with health care organizations and clinicians across the province. It is anticipated that the provincial standards will evolve over time.
OnCall’s simple and secure virtual care platform is trusted by over 600 healthcare organizations and thousands of primary care, mental health, and paramedical service providers throughout North America who treat patients virtually. OnCall’s complete solution powers the entire provider, administrative staff, and patient journey, and is highly flexible to address the needs of healthcare systems, brands, and enterprises. OnCall meets regulatory requirements and is Personal Health Information (PHI) and Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) compliant, with end-to-end encryption. OnCall is accessible from any device and any browser, and is backed by 24/7 technical support for patients and providers.
In December 2020, after the Government of Ontario announced that it was making investments to expand virtual care services in the province, KMH Cardiology Centres, a community care provider that offers Cardiology, PET CT, and MRI diagnostic services, engaged OnCall to implement its virtual care platform to securely connect patients to their team of cardiologists and internal medicine specialists.
“We take data security and patient privacy very seriously at KMH, whether it is obtaining patient consent or making sure we have the necessary documentation on reports and in the patient’s chart,” says Roger Han, VP Strategy & Analytics at KMH Cardiology Centres. “Knowing that the OnCall platform is secure and that it meets the requirements of the verification process gives us peace of mind. To have a government agency verify it brings even greater credibility to the platform and for our providers too.”
