Panini, a global payments technology provider, is pleased to announce they have joined the FIDO Alliance, the industry association focused on reducing the world’s over-reliance on passwords with the development of, use of, and compliance with standards for authentication.
The FIDO Alliance is working to change the nature of authentication with open standards that are more secure than passwords, simpler for consumers to use, and easier for service providers to deploy and manage. The Alliance is driven by the hundreds of global tech leaders across enterprise, payments, telecom, government and healthcare that have come together in support of developing technical specifications that define an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms for more reliable and convenient methods to authenticate users.
FIDO compliant solutions use a combination of biometric verification and device authentication with asymmetric cryptography. Panini’s Innovation team is currently testing their patent-pending biometric authentication system with the goal of aligning with standards for FIDO compliance.
“We are thrilled to join this coalition and support FIDO’s industry goal to make user authentication easier and safer for all parties,” says Pierpaolo Bubbio, R&D Director, Panini. “We’re confident Panini has a lot to offer as we continue developing state-of-the-art authentication technology via our intensive innovation program.”

About the FIDO Alliance
The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance, www.fidoalliance.org, was formed in July 2012 to address the lack of interoperability among strong authentication technologies, and remedy the problems users face with creating and remembering multiple usernames and passwords. The FIDO Alliance is changing the nature of authentication with standards for simpler, stronger authentication that define an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms that reduce reliance on passwords. FIDO Authentication is stronger, private, and easier to use when authenticating to online services.
