The free educational guide is a collaborative effort that discusses the importance of diversity and inclusivity in photography. Inside, industry leaders Tara Pixley, Laylah Amatullah Barrayn, Hannah Reyes Morales, Tailyr Irvine, Danielle Villasana, Mengwen Cao and Jovelle Tamayo share first-hand accounts, valuable insights and important resources for photographers and storytellers.

“Our partnership with the Authority Collective has been enlightening for the PhotoShelter team,” says Andrew Fingerman, CEO of PhotoShelter. “Together we have identified ways we can take greater responsibility to influence the dialogue toward a more inclusive photography business.”

The free resource provides photographers with:

● Definitions and historical context for issues related to photographing race, gender, the Global South and more

● Ideas for how to engage more generously with communities that are not your own

● A list of helpful resources and questions photographers should ask themselves before their next project

The new guide has already received overwhelming praise from the photography community at a time when audiences are looking at brands for leadership on important issues. It sheds light on critical challenges in the industry and provides a path forward for photographers entering communities different from their own.

The Photographer’s Guide to Inclusive Photography is the latest in PhotoShelter’s ongoing series of free business guides for photographers and marketing professionals. PhotoShelter’s library includes 70+ educational guides including topics like photo contests, social media marketing and creating a business plan. Guides can be downloaded here:
