The Iowa Assessments are evidence-based, psychometrically sound assessments that measure student achievement and growth. They provide an efficient test design with powerful reports, giving educators the information that they need in easy-to-understand formats. The core focus is on three distinct areas, which include: monitoring growth, gauging college and career readiness and evaluating student mastery of learning standards for grades K-12.
“Throughout our years of experience designing and delivering large-scale assessment programs, Riverside has always worked closely with state education departments and local school systems,” said Deval Clearwater, Vice President, Product Management, Marketing and International for Riverside Insights. “We’re honored to partner with TEA through our shared commitment of helping individuals elevate their learning potential from early childhood through their academic journeys and for the rest of their lives.”
Call to action for measurable results
TEA placed a Request for Proposal (RFP) earlier this year with a goal to replace its Commissioner’s List of Approved Tests with a single, statewide assessment for EL reclassification, effective in the 2019-2020 school year. This move comes per requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), as articulated in the Title III, Part A section of the Texas ESSA State Plan, and pursuant to Texas Education Code (TEC) §29.056(g)(2) and Title 19, Texas Administrative Code (TAC), § 89.1226.
Teachers and administrators are encouraged by TEA to follow a series of steps to begin the Iowa Assessments implementation process.
