Searchspring, a provider of intelligent site search and merchandising solutions for online retailers, today announced it has named Ten Chu as the company’s new Vice President of Product. In this role, Ten will double down on Searchspring’s mission to give ecommerce teams superpowers with solutions that are so user-friendly, a single merchandiser can launch site-wide campaigns in a matter of clicks.

Searchspring’s latest hire is part of an ongoing investment in an enhanced product roadmap, which will deliver increased capabilities for its customers, and more personalized experiences for shoppers. Further hires are already underway to double Searchspring’s Engineering team and accelerate new product development.

“I am thrilled to have joined the Searchspring team during this pivotal time in ecommerce,” says Ten. “As VP of Product, I look forward to bringing my technical background and passion for problem solving to my role. I plan to build on the outstanding solutions that Searchspring already offers to equip merchandisers with even better tools for creating exceptional shopping experiences.”

Ten brings a diverse background to the Searchspring team with more than 15 years as an entrepreneurial technology executive with a focus on technology strategy, lean and agile transformation, software development, and DevOps. He started his career at the Chicago Tribune Company as part of the team developing and supporting the very first version of the chicagotribune.com. Since then, his career has spanned various industries, including media, location-based services, education technology, and high frequency trading.

Prior to working with Searchspring, Ten served as technology division head for Enova International, where he led changes in data management and small business lending divisions through analytics-centric architecture and organization transformation. He served as CTO for Optiver and as US IT Director of ecommerce for Zoro, where he architected the application framework, infrastructure layout, and organization structure to support the company’s growth to $2 million daily revenue.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Ten also co-founded and served as CTO of ThinkCERCA, a platform that prepares students for success in the real world through critical thinking and enhanced literacy educational tools. As well as contributing to the development of the platform, Ten was also responsible for ThinkCERCA’s product and technology strategies.

“I worked with Ten in my previous role as CTO of GroupBy, and I watched him grow his engineering organization and company (Zoro) at an amazing pace,” says Will Warren, CTO at Searchspring. “Unflappably calm, and 100% happy, Ten is a joy to work with and has already proven to be a valuable addition to the Searchspring team.”
