A judgment of over $8 million in favor of Skyroam, Inc. (www.skyroam.com), a subsidiary of SIMO Holdings Inc, in its patent infringement case continues to validate the intrinsic and substantial value of its virtual SIM technology. In a considerable win over competitor uCloudlink Network Technology Ltd. (operating under the brand name of GlocalMe), the District Court for the Southern District of New York found the infringement of SIMO Holding’s technology was willful and also ordered in an injunction that UcloudLink stop selling the infringing hotspot devices and cease providing data to these devices via its Cloud Sim technology in the United States.

“The court’s ruling and subsequent award of damages reinforces the value and importance of SIMO’s vSIM technology,” said Eric Plam, President of Skyroam, Inc. “SIMO’s vSIM technology, used by millions of Skyroam Wi-Fi hotspot customers and SIMO mobile app users, is gaining traction as an alternative to physical SIMs.”

vSIM allows mobile 4G LTE data to be delivered to customers via the Skyroam global WiFi network, automatically serving the best connection based on the user’s location without needing a SIM card or carrier plan. Skyroam made the difficult decision to invest in legal action to protect its virtual SIM technology after clear infringement from a global competitor. Now, with the legal protection and further reinforcement of its portfolio of patents, the company is poised to invest in long-term, innovative products and partnerships powered by vSIM, which will drive significant growth for SIMO.

SIMO Holdings Inc, and Skyroam, have already launched the next generation of vSIM powered mobile devices through the SIMO app, the first app for on-demand mobile data. The SIMO app gives consumers the ability to access local and international data on their mobile phone with no physical SIM required. They have partnered with Wiko, Tecno, and Blu Products.

Skyroam representatives will be present this week at Mobile World Congress, North America’s most important wireless conference, and are available to discuss SIMO’s virtual SIM technology.
